CHRISTOPH REINHART is a recently appointed Associate Professor of Building Technology at MIT. Before joining the MIT Architecture Department he led the sustainable design concentration area at Harvard GSD and worked for over a decade as a staff scientist at the National Research Council of Canada and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Germany. His research expertise is in sustainable building design especially modeling lighting and energy use of buildings and neighborhoods. The design tools developed by his group include DIVA-for-Rhino and Daysim and are used by thousands of architecture and engineering firms in over 90 countries. Christoph serves on the editorial board of several journals including the IBPSA Journal of Building Performance Simulation and has authored over 100 scientific articles including three book chapters. His research has been supported by a variety of organizations including Natural Resources Canada, the National Science Foundation, Autodesk, and the Harvard Real Estate Academic Initiative and has won a number of awards including the 2009 ARUP and the 2010 Leon Gaster Prices.
