Greg Havens, AICP, AIA, principal, Sasaki Associates, Watertown, MA, is a planner and architect with 21 years' professional experience. With his multidisciplinary interests, he brings a balanced and collaborative approach to planning and design processes that engage individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. Since joining Sasaki in 1991, Mr. Havens's work has focused on planning, design, and programming for institutional clients. He has worked on the development of comprehensive master planning and programming strategies with a number of institutions in the United States and abroad including the University of Pennsylvania, Northwestern University, Auburn University, and the University of North Texas at Dallas. He was recipient of the 2005 Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) Merit Award in Planning for a New Campus. Mr. Havens is a member of Planning Green, Sasaki's internal planning committee for green design and planning, and actively promotes sustainability in the firm's institutional planning and design work. His research experience includes an analysis of institutional planning methodologies and town/gown relations developed for the Higher Education Design Quality Forum of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Greg is a registered architect and planner with a Master of City Planning degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a frequent presenter at regional and national higher education conferences, including SCUP.
