Programs in Design

Encompassing a wide variety of subjects, including architecture, urban planning, design ideas and technologies, practice management, business development, and leadership, programs in design run from one to five days and are scheduled throughout the year.

The Planning and Design of Public Libraries

January 12-14, 2010
Intended for architects and librarians, staff and trustees, this comprehensive program examines the emerging role of the public library in our changing world.

Real Estate Development, Design, and Construction

January 24-27, 2010
Faced with an uncertain market, real estate and facilities leaders must create more value while using fewer resources. This program helps participants bring projects to market more successfully and transcend a volatile real estate environment by pursuing strategies that add long-term value to their real estate holdings. Offered jointly by the Harvard Business School and Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

The Challenges of Leadership

February 2-5, 2010
This four-day Leadership Program tackles issues of leadership in practice and within organizations, and challenges participants to develop the vision, influence, self-discipline, and motivation required of successful leaders. This intensive, interactive program is specifically designed for executives in real estate, architecture, planning, and related building industries.

Executive Education Summer Programs

July-August 2010
Summer Programs explore timely design issues and trends while enabling participants to exchange ideas and experiences with faculty and peers. They cover topics in architecture, urban planning, health care and educational facilities design, residential design, sustainability and green design, real estate development, leadership, management, and more and are open to architects, planners, real estate and building industry professionals, and others interested in the built environment.

BIM and Process Change

Last Ran: October 13, 2009
Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been adopted by most if not all high volume architecture/engineering practices in recent years. In this one day program, participants will gain an understanding of the concepts of BIM as they relate to architecture, design, and construction.
