The Planning and Design of Public Libraries

January 12-14, 2010

Harvard University
Cambridge, MA

Intended for architects and librarians, staff and trustees, this comprehensive course examines the emerging role of the public library in our changing world.  Participants explore the rapidly evolving changes in library services and technology and their effect on library design.

The program activities include lectures, team-based library planning and design exercises, virtual tours of distant libraries and actual tours of new local libraries and the evaluation of recent and proposed new library designs.

The program covers the theoretical and the practical in an interactive class format.
