Ernie Beck

Ernie Beck is an Associate Principal with NV5 Engineering & Technology based in the Baltimore-Washington Metro area. Ernie has been in the commercial Building Technology space for over 14 years. In 2018, Ernie founded Capture Design Group, LLC, a boutique building technology consulting firm, which was later acquired by NV5 in 2020. In 2013, Ernie founded Integrate Baltimore, a 501c3 non-profit organization that focused on closing the digital divide in underserved communities through hands-on training and electronics upcycling programs.

Ernie has experience leading complex technology deployments ranging from the global commercial real estate developers, to the US Department of Defense. Having spent many of his formative years in the systems integration field, Ernie brings an understanding of real-world challenges posed by planning, financing, securing, and maintaining large technology investments.

As an early adopter, Ernie has seen the progression of buildings as they undergo a digital transformation. As NV5’s resident Intelligent Building Consultant subject matter expert, Ernie works closely with clients on planning future-ready technologies that enhance occupant experiences and drive efficiency. Ernie also serves on NV5’s Zero Net Carbon planning committee.

Ernie attended the Sheffield Institute for the Recording Arts where he earned dual trade certifications in Audio Engineering and Low-Voltage Electronics Engineering. In 2013 Ernie achieved an Infocomm Certified Technology Specialist – Design certification (CTS-D), and in 2020 achieved the International Well Building Institute (IWBI) WELL Accredited Professional Credential. He enjoys participation in associations such as RealComm, AVIXA, APPA, BISCI, and IWBI.
