Hans Nordby, Managing Director, CoStar Portfolio Strategy, leads a team of 65 professionals, including 40 economists, in Boston, Washington, D.C., and the United Kingdom. Mr. Nordby has been with the firm since 2002, and until October of 2011 was Director of Advisory Services, managing custom strategic research efforts for large public and private pension funds, pension fund advisors, bank holding companies, and REITs. In his role as Managing Director, Nordby led the integration of CoStar’s data into existing modeling and analytics, to create the commercial real estate industry’s most powerful suite of analytic tools. CoStar Portfolio Strategy has since introduced additional analytic services and products for clients, including PPR’s market-leading multifamily service. In 2012 he was made an officer of CoStar Group. Mr. Nordby continues to advise public, private, debt, and equity commercial real estate clients on investment and lending strategies, including custom strategic research and guidance on portfolio strategy, target market selection, capital-raising initiatives, relative value and custom scenario analyses, and acquisition/disposition studies.
He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and client-sponsored events for the clients’ investors and customers. Media in which he has been featured include the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Investment Dealers Digest, Time magazine and Fox News, among others. A prolific writer, he has contributed to the Journal of Portfolio Management, RMA Journal, Real Estate Investment Today, the Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management, and ICSC Research Quarterly.
Hans received a B.A. magna cum laude in Scandinavian Literature from the University of Minnesota and an M.B.A. in Finance from Indiana University.
