Josiah Stevenson, AIA, has been a Principal at Leers Weinzapfel Associates, Boston, MA, since 1998. At Leers Weinzapfel Associates, he developed expertise in courthouse design as Project Manager for the Newburyport District Courthouse--a 60,000 square foot, highly secure, four-courtroom facility located in the historic coastal town of Newburyport, MA--and as Project Architect for the design of the Judicial Center in Lawrence, MA. He led the design team for the recently completed Federal Courthouse in Orlando, FL. He was Principal in Charge of the recently completed Penobscot Judicial Center, in Bangor, ME, and involved in the design of courthouses in Taunton, MA, Howard County, MD, and Dover Foxcroft, ME. Currently, he is working with the State of Massachusetts to develop guidelines for the design of all new courtrooms across the state, and published an article in “Courts Today” about the courtroom mock-up process. Mr. Stevenson is registered in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, and Vermont, and he is NCARB and LEED certified.
