Empresa de Desarrollo Urbano (EDU), Medellin

GSD Executive Education will engage in a series of capacity-building programs for Empresa de Desarrollo Urbano (EDU), of Medellin, Colombia. The challenge of creating sustainable cities is not just a technical or technological challenge it is, above all, a collaborative challenge. These programs will allow participants to integrate their knowledge of new technology and prepare for the challenges of the future. Participants will learn how to involve organizations and communities in planning processes that take into account the long-term future and the consequences of all our decisions. They will engage in a conversation about what their contribution will be to the development of Medellin.

The programs will address themes of climate resilient architecture–thermal texture, natural ventilation, “breathable” buildings, thermally active surfaces, materials selection, materials flow, life cycle thinking, hybrid materials, heat-exchanging elements, buoyancy ventilation, micro-climate design, design of social spaces, passive cooling techniques and technologies–as well as innovation in sustainable urban development–design thinking, leading for innovation, and the nature of social change.
