Instructors Who… Design The World’s Tallest Buildings
As the Advanced Management Development Program in Real Estate (AMDP) summer terms approach (exact dates here), we wanted to take a look at one of the many reasons we are so excited for July — the fantastic instructors participants enjoy. Look for us to highlight additional sessions in the coming weeks. This week, we will take a look at Gordon Gill — designer of some of the world’s highest performing (and tallest) buildings.
Gordon Gill – Designing Buildings of the Future
Gordon Gill, Founding Partner at Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture is one of the world’s foremost exponents of performance-based architecture. His work includes the design of the world’s first net-zero-energy skyscraper, the Pearl River Tower in Guangzhou, China (designed at SOM Chicago), the world’s first large-scale positive energy building, Masdar Headquarters in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and the next world’s tallest tower, Jeddah Tower, now under construction in Saudi Arabia.

When Gordon taught an AMDP session in 2021, one participant noted that:
“Gordon is a genius, and it was a privilege hearing his talk and awesome presentation. Faultless.”
Other comments included:
- “Mind expanding!”
- “This was an exceptional presentation.”
- “His experiences were incredibly insightful.”
Gordon has also served on the jury for the AMDP team project. He is seen below observing a team’s presentation in March 2023:
