Hotel Design and Development: Insights from Globally Renowned Properties

Learn about current approaches to developing hotels worldwide while drawing design inspiration from a top-tier brand.

The global hospitality market is expected to grow from $5.4 trillion in 2024 to $7.2 trillion by 2029. Why and how hotel properties are designed and built is more relevant than ever. Aimed at helping developers and architects who want to enter this large and growing market or established veterans looking to diversify beyond their traditional strengths, this program will help participants understand the unique aspects of developing hotels in different regions worldwide that delight occupants.

Led by two global veterans of the hospitality design industry, this three-session program will examine the hotel development process from the perspective of the critical stakeholders: owners, operators, designers, and builders.

The program will address the current state of the hospitality industry, emerging trends, and strategies for solutions. Expect to get deep into the details, including how to adapt to each hotel’s unique design challenges and best practices for tackling those challenges.

Case studies will profile two recently opened Peninsula Hotels, London and Istanbul with an insider’s view of their development. The contrast of these projects will showcase many of the challenges faced by development teams in today’s hospitality industry.

Participants will engage in this highly interactive program. Surveys and word clouds will capture participants’ input throughout the course, while break-out activities will be used for participants to dig deeper into the case studies presented.
