Eduardo Dominguez-Imbert

Eduardo attended Integrated Project Management: Reduce Risks, Increase Collaboration, and Ensure Scalable Project Success with us in the summer of 2024, his first program with us. We recently spoke with him about his experience:

You attended the program with colleagues from the Dominican Republic, including Rafa Selman, who has attended our programs in previous years. What motivated your group to attend the program together?

Coming to the program resulted from a chance meeting I had with Rafa on a flight when he mentioned he would be attending. We’ve worked together for many years, and I admire Rafa – he is a rare architect who combines excellent creativity with an understanding of the technical aspects of a project. We discussed the types of projects we face in the Dominican Republic and how difficult it is to build on time and budget. Ultimately, that is why I chose to attend – to gain insights on how to improve how projects are built because we know that it can be better than it is now.

You noted in your evaluation that: “The information provided is supported by real life professional experience, which is extremely useful for participants, even those with decades of experience.” Given your decades of experience, how was the learning environment? And would you recommend the program to fellow construction CEOs?

Absolutely, I recommend this program. When you are in the position I am in, you need new ideas and knowledge – and you need it from someone with experience so that it’s not just the theory, but it has been put into practice, and it works. Sometimes, consultants have great ideas but haven’t tested the ideas in the field. Here, all the cases were presented with solutions — combining the ideas behind a new project delivery method with the results and insights for using that method.

We would love to hear about an upcoming project of yours that you are excited to apply what you learned in the program. Would you mind sharing?

Right now, a client has approached us and wants to do a new corporate complex. They have a factory, bank, and insurance company and want us to design and build this building for them. We plan to apply what we learned in this program to this project – and Tony even shared his handbook from a past project to use in our planning.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

In construction, we all have the same problems, no matter where you build: an architect designs, the contractor tries to interpret, and when you go to build it, there are always problems that come up and require adaptation. We must address this because delivering projects over budget or late isn’t good for anyone, from the owner to the contractor.

“Projects should be done on-time and on budget, and I am excited to apply what I’ve learned in this program to ensure that for my clients.”
