Environment and the Journal of Building Performance Simulation. She has presented at numerous conferences including GreenBuild, where her session was one of 130 accepted out of 1200+ submissions. At the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA) conference her work was awarded the ARUP Engineering Best Paper Prize in 2009.

Samuelson's research has been supported by a variety of organizations including the American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). She serves on the scientific committee for Building Simulation 2014, the ASHRAE/IBPSA USA conference, and is a reviewer for the ASHRAE journal, Transactions. She served as faculty advisor to the winning team for the IBPSA international student energy modeling competition in 2013. She has held leadership positions on multiple professional boards including president of the IBPSA-Boston Chapter.

Prior to joining Harvard, Samuelson practiced full-time as a licensed architect and sustainable design consultant. As an architect, her work ranged in scale from a small museum for interactive art to a 100 acre master plan for Boston's Fort Point Channel area with a primary focus on large-scale commercial buildings. She has worked on dozens of LEED projects and taught LEED workshops nationally and abroad. Her collaborative design work has been featured in the Boston Globe and honored by the Boston Society of Architects. She advises in the GSD architecture studios and serves on numerous design juries.

Samuelson earned a Doctor of Design and Master in Design Studies with distinction from Harvard Graduate School of Design. She earned a Bachelor of Architecture with honors from Carnegie Mellon University.
